When we speak with print companies one of the things they are always asking about is other print companies, effectively their competition. They want to know what they are doing, what is successful for them and while we’re not overly excited about focusing on competitors, we do understand the value of being informed to have a baseline knowledge about what’s going on in the market.

So we decided it made sense to pull together some of the ads that the top print companies are running online. Not just any ads, but LinkedIn ads.

One of the great things about LinkedIn Ads is that they provide a Library of ads that allows you to see what people are running. Whether you think that is good or bad, it’s a reality at the moment, so we are taking advantage of it and sharing with you the LinkedIn Ads from Top Print companies.

RR Donnelley LinkedIn Ads

The first print company on our list is RR Donnelley. Undeniably known across the print industry, this company is actually running a lot of LinkedIn ads. Let’s take a look at them here.

Something very clear is that they focus on products and services.

While we did find them speaking to outcomes for some of their customers in a few of the ads, the vast majority of them spoke to their capabilities. While we are a fan of objectives based messaging, we love broad service & product focused messaging as well.

WestRock Company LinkedIn Ads

This print company, now called Smurfit Westrock, is also running a considerable amount of LinkedIn Ads. It’s interesting because they use many different ad variations of the same ad. Which is considered a good practice among digital marketers, but for a company to really observe winners across slight ad variations there has to be a lot of volume (seriously a lot) to reach statistical significance. So this could mean they are moving a lot of people through their ads. Or they could be like most people who run ads and they use false positives in their ad tests, or they are like almost everyone else that runs ads and just have a bunch of versions running.

In our opinion you need to be running ads and the more intentional and observant you are the better, but even if you just put a bunch of ads up and run them, we think that’s way better than running no ads at all.

Smurfit Westrock focuses on the industry, regulations and partner companies to drive home that they are good stewards of print within the industry and more of an authority, at the same time sprinkling in a little social proof.

HH Global LinkedIn Ads

HH Global has a uniquely creative approach to their LinkedIn Ads that look pretty cool in our opinion. But unfortunately maintaining consistency in designs like this across ads for years can be difficult and is undoubtedly more work. If you have the resources, more power to you!

HH Global LinkedIn Ads 2

Similar to Westrock you can see that HH Global is highly focused on outcomes and the desires of their customers beyond the product and service. They also utilize the momentum of environmental concern.
